For Citrofrut, sustainability is one of the main characteristics of all the processes it carries out. From the correct use of natural resources, the generation of good conditions for the communities and, of course, the commitment to reduce pollution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That is why there are two parameters that are fundamental to evaluate if the processes are being carried out properly, which are the renewable energy consumed and the carbon footprint in Citrofrut’s plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is worth explaining what renewable energy consumed refers to, before disclosing Citrofrut’s consumption in 2020. Renewable energy consumed is any energy that comes from a natural resource, such as the sun, wind or vegetation (biomass).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This type of energy helps the planet, since the impact on the environment is almost zero. This is precisely why it is important to highlight the percentage of renewable energy consumed by each Citrofrut plant: PTAR Huichihuay\u00e1n, 41%; \u00c1lamo, 44%; Huichihuay\u00e1n, 65%; and Paso Largo, 78%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In another tenor, the carbon footprint can be defined as the amount of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere, which generates damage to the ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With that in mind, Citrofrut stopped emitting 9,318 tons of CO2 in 2020, a reduction of 62 percent. It should be noted that the Huichihuay\u00e1n WWTP reduced its emissions by 38%; \u00c1lamo by 40%; Huichihuay\u00e1n by 61%; and Paso Largo by 73%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
