Tropical fruits are those from tropical or subtropical climate zones.
Tropical fruits have in common, in the vast majority of cases, that they cannot withstand cold temperatures close to or below 0 ° C. And Citrofrut is one of the biggest producers in Mexico.
According to the FAO, the global production of tropical fruits has grown in the last decade, mainly in response to the growing demand in producing countries. It is estimated that 99% of tropical fruit production originates in developing countries, and is mainly grown by small farmers who are endowed with, or have access to, less than five hectares of land.
Citrofrut produces Mango Tommy, Mango Manila, Mango Palmer and Pink Guava.
The cultivation of tropical fruits depends mainly on its climate, since many of these cannot resist temperatures close to or below 0 degrees. That is why Mexico is a great place for its cultivation, being Citrofrut one of the largest producers.
According to the FAO, mango represents 52% of all tropical fruits in the world, followed by pineapple and papaya.
Mexico is the main mango and guava exporter in the world, with about 400 tons per year, which represents 24 percent of the total world production.
At Citrofrut we process and produce tropical fruits, such as
